How to Watch Formula 1 (F1) on FireStick

  • In this post, I will show you how to stream the Formula 1 on FireStick, FireStick 4K, FireStick 4K Max, FireStick Lite, Android, iPhone, Roku, Android TV, Apple TV, Xbox, PlayStation, and Fire TV without cable. I will go over free, paid, and cheaper ways to stream the live-action, regardless of your location. Make sure to read the entire post to learn everything.

The 2023 Formula 1 is shaping up to be another year for Red Bull. Max Verstappen – the 2021 and 2022 F1 champion, is leading the table after the Canadian GP. Although the pre-season revealed interesting things, Red Bull is still the team to beat in 2023. Red Bull has performed as expected, and it will be interesting to see Alonso of Aston Martin and Hamilton of Mercedes can catch up to Max in the upcoming races. Here’s how you can watch Formula 1 on FireStick without cable.

I will keep the post focused on FireStick only. The official apps are available on all smart devices, and the unofficial ones are limited to Fire TV only.

F1 2023 Racing Schedule

The Formula One World Championship is the toughest class of racing cars. The first game went live on March 5 in Bahrain. With the Russian GP out of the way, we have 22 races to look forward to in 2023. As expected, the 2023 schedule will end with the Abu Dhabi GP on 26 November. The Qatar Grand Pix is expected to make a return after skipping the 2022 calendar due to the FIFA World Cup. The Las Vegas Grand Pix is all set to make a debut in November this year. Fans are looking forward to the new street track across the Las Vegas Strip.

French F1 fans are in for a disappointment, though. The French Grand Pix doesn’t have a place in the 2023 calendar.

What Happened in F1 2023 So Far?

Red Bull started the 2023 season in Bahrain Grand Prix on a winning note. Max Verstappen won the race quite comfortably in the end. Although Perez took the pole position in the qualifying race, Max started in the fifteenth position and jumped to second by the end of the race. Australian GP was once again dominated by Max.

Fast forward to today, Verstappen is leading the table with 25 points. He is closely followed by Aston Martin’s Alonso and Mercedes’s Hamilton in the second and third place, respectively.

Austrian GP Preview

After a thrilling Canadian GP on June 18, Formula 1 is all set to go live in Austria on June 30 – July 2. The practice will start on Friday around 1.30 p.m., following a qualifying round at 5 p.m. The final race will take on July 2, Sunday at 3 p.m. Max Verstappen from Red Bull is the one to beat here. He has won the last four races in the United States, Monaco, Spain, and Canada.

F1 Streaming Rights

In the US, ESPN carries official rights to stream all the F1 matches. Their contract expired in 2019, and the Disney-owned company extended the F1 coverage.

Till 2022, ESPN will be the sole provider to air Formula 1 matches in the US. After the grand success of the Drive to Survive series, Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings has shown interest in acquiring rights for the next F1 season. Cable users can add ESPN channels to their existing package and call it a day. As for streaming on FireStick, you have half a dozen options to watch ESPN channels on FireStick without cable.

Watch F1 on FireStick (Official Apps)

Now that you know the official media partner for F1 racing in the US, you may know what we are looking for on FireStick.

We will list out streaming apps that carry ESPN channels in their catalog. Most of the streaming providers do carry ESPN channels. And here is where it might get confusing for you.

I will mention five options below. So, which one is perfect for you? It all boils down to your preferences, watching habits, and for which purpose you want to subscribe to the streaming service.

Don’t worry, though. It’s not that difficult to choose among them. I will mention the USP (Unique Selling Point) of each service to clear some confusion for you.

By the way, these services are limited in the US region. If you want to access them from another country, you can easily do that so by using ExpressVPN on FireStick.

ExpressVPN offers reliable connection, blocks blackouts, and offers F1 streaming regardless of your current location.

I have covered the step-by-step process to live stream this event completely free. So read the complete guide if that is something you are looking for.

4. Hulu + Live TV

Hulu + Live TV
Hulu + Live TV

Hulu directly competes with YouTube TV. The company’s starter plan is average. But with Disney+ and ESPN+ addons in the higher plan, it beats the competition in style to watch F1 and tons of other content on FireStick without cable.

  • Live TV channels: 75+ channels
  • Movies and TV shows: Yes, via Disney+ and Hulu originals
  • Free trial: No
  • Price: $64.99 per month for Hulu Live TV, $72.99 per month with Disney+ and ESPN+ addons

How to install fuboTV on FireStick

F1 also offers a dedicated subscription called F1 TV Pro to stream behind-the-scenes coverage, F2, and more. But a dedicated app on Amazon FireStick is missing on the App Store. You will have to sideload it from unknown sources. Here’s hoping that F1 releases a native F1 TV for Formula 1 fans in the US. It costs $79 per year.

How to Stream F1 on FireStick in Canada

Bell Media-owned TSN has the official rights to stream F1 matches in Canada. If you have TSN included in the cable package, you can view it through satellite. But what about cord-cutters?

Users can subscribe to TSN+ streaming service which is priced at $24.99 per month. But unfortunately, TSN doesn’t have a native app for FireStick. You can log into the TSN website through the Amazon Silk browser.

Alternatively, users can sideload the TSN app on FireStick and start watching F1 matches at home.

If this sounds too much of a hassle, you can always connect ExpressVPN on FireStick and change country location to the US, and watch F1 through tons of options as I mentioned above.

How to Stream F1 on FireStick in the UK

Sky Sports streams every Formula One matches in the UK. FireStick users can use the Sky Go app on FireStick but then again, it would require you to go through sideloading just to use the app on FireStick.

The better option is to go with the NOW service. It supports all the 11 Sky Sports channels and has a native app for FireStick as well.

The subscription is priced at £33.99 per month with a 30-day free trial to Boost add-on that enhances the streaming quality from HD (720o) to full HD (1080p) resolution.

How to Watch F1 Races on FireStick for Free

When you are competing in a crowded US streaming market, you must deliver more reasons for people to use your streaming service above others. To onboard new subscribers, most streaming providers do offer a free trial.

As a newbie in a cord-cutter community, you can start the free trial with various services and enjoy a few F1 matches for free on FireStick without cable.

You can start your free trial journey with fuboTV and view a single F1 match for free on the weekends. Now, move to YouTube TV, and enjoy a couple more matches for free on FireStick.

Try to sign up on Thursday or Friday to catch the pole position race and the main race on the weekend. While you are at it, don’t forget to cancel the free trial.

The F1 series goes on throughout the year in different countries. These free trials won’t be sufficient for you. Here are the unofficial alternative ways to watch F1 on FireStick for free.

Free Ways to Watch F1 on FireStick (Unofficial Apps)

Legal Disclaimer: This tutorial is purely educational. FireStickTricks.com doesn’t own, host, operate, resell, or distribute any streaming apps, addons, websites, IPTV or services. The page contains some unverified services, and we are not certain whether they hold legal licenses to distribute the content. FireStickTricks.com does not verify the legality of each app/service in all regions. Do your due diligence if you use any of the unverified apps/services, and stream only content that is available in the public domain. The end-user shall be solely responsible for the media accessed.

Since the FireStick runs on Android-based FireOS, it’s quite easy to sideload apps that aren’t officially available from the Amazon App Store.

Using third-party streaming apps, IPTV providers, and Kodi addons, users can easily install them and watch F1 matches on FireStick.

However, be careful while going overboard with these apps. Unusual traffic from these apps and services might trigger your ISP provider and government. It can lead you to legal troubles as well.

I would advise going with ExpressVPN on FireStick so that you can watch all the F1 matches without any worry.

Here’s how to get started with a VPN on FireStick before you start installing free apps.

Highly recommended if streaming with free or low-cost services 👇

You can also read more detailed info on using ExpressVPN with Fire TV / Stick.

Now that you are using a VPN to protect your online identity, here’re the low-cost and free streaming options for F1 racing.

IPTV Providers

FireStick users must be familiar with the IPTV services on FireStick. Internet-based providers allow subscribers to stream hundreds of TV channels, movies, and TV shows for a small monthly fee.

I have curated a list of the best IPTV services to use on FireStick. Go through them and start integrating your preferred IPTV service on an IPTV player such as Flix IPTV or TiviMate on FireStick.

Don’t forget to connect to ExpressVPN. FireStickTricks can’t confirm the legal license of all the content offered by these IPTV providers. It’s best to protect yourself with a VPN service on FireStick.

Third-Party Apps and Kodi Addons

Do you want to watch every F1 race for free on FireStick? You can go with third-party streaming apps or integrate sports Kodi addons with the Kodi app on FireStick.

Kodi remains my favorite unofficial app on FireStick. With a capable Kodi addon, you can easily watch F1 and other sports leagues on FireStick without paying a dime.

Once again, let me remind you to go with ExpressVPN because we can’t confirm the authenticity of the content on these apps.

Sports Streaming Websites

Free sports streaming websites also offer live action from the race tracks on Sunday.

You can use them with the Amazon Silk Browser on FireStick. A word of caution, though. Don’t add any personal or card details on these websites. They are filled with ads and third-party trackers.

Wrapping Up

Max from Redbull has already won the 2022 F1 season. I’m rooting for him to win the 2023 season too. How about you?
